Liftoff (Parent newsletter for Blast & Ignite)

 September 2016

8/31/2016

In Sept we are going to be starting a series called “Oppressed” which looks at the first part of Moses from the book of Exodus.  Lots of people know the name Moses and some of what he did, but not many truly understand the significance of what God does through him.  So we’re going to take a look at the first part of his story because it is foundational for properly understanding the entire Bible, the nature and character of God and His plans for His people.  Here are the scriptures and a brief description of what we’ll be focusing on.  (Schedule subject to change due to Jim’s baby being born!)

  • Sept 7th – Exodus 1:1-2:10 – Moses was born during a time of extreme oppression.
  • Sept 14th – Exodus 2:11-25 –Moses murders and runs away while God hears the Israelite's cries.
  • Sept 21st – Exodus 3:1-22 – God introduces Himself to Moses at the burning bush.
  • Sept 28th – Exodus 4:1-31 – Moses questions God and is sent back to Egypt

We're back!  It's been a good summer and now it's time to look ahead to the school year.  Here's a couple of things you need to know:
Picture
  • Also Blast and Ignite start up on Wednesday, August 17th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.  In August the series will be "Focus on Friendship."  On the first night we'll talk about how friendships are crucial, the 24th will be about being a good friend and the 31st is about the consequences, good and bad, of friendships.  We pick this topic because the beginning of the year is a such a good opportunity to make good choices regarding friends.

We've got some fun and exciting stuff planned for the year which we'll let you know about as each gets closer.  In the meantime, enjoy the last of the summer months.

Jim
