North County Community Church is a planned spin-off church from Clayton Community Church. Mark Brauss and Bob Levin (two of our three pastors) were brought together by the Lord to pray over and discuss this vision to start a new church. They presented the idea to the leadership of C.C.C. and were given the approval to pursue this vision. These two men, with a group of approximately thirty-two adults and ten children began to meet for nine months to become unified in vision and to prepare to start a church. In October of 1982, with the blessing and commission of Clayton Community Church, N.C.C.C. was formed.
From October 1982 to July 1986, the church rented space from Berkeley Presbyterian. During these years, the congregation grew in size from its initial launch group of 42 adults and children to over 125 people. The church was outgrowing its current rental facility and purchased FIrst Baptist of Berkeley.
Growth continued steadily, and in 1992 we ordained Jim Donahue as our third pastor. Through God's leading in some very incredible ways, our facility was sold to a church from Kinloch. We then purchased a 3-acre piece of land at 7410 Howdershell. The house on the land was converted to our offices and youth center. We broke ground on a new 20,000 square foot facility in March 1995 which was completed December 21, 1996.
In September of 1999 because of continued growth, we expanded to two services. Joe Rodgers was installed as our fourth pastor in September of 2000.
In June 2002, we sent one of our pastors, Jim Donahue, with 30 adults to start a new church called "Life Spring Community Church." This was a cooperative effort with Heartland Community Church of St. Peters. These two groups combined to form Life Spring.
